Online training session held for financial institutions and project developers on EPC scheme

On March 19, the Integrated Development Group (IDG) and the Housing and Building National Research Center (HBRC) jointly conducted an insightful training session hosted online. The session was attended by key stakeholders from financial institutions and project developers from across Egypt.  

The training session began with an introduction to the BUILD_ME project, highlighting the relevance of energy efficiency (EE) in buildings and the financial attractiveness of investing in EE measures. Dr. Mohamed Salheen from IDG provided an overview of available certification schemes. Following this, Dr. Ashraf Kamal from HBRC explained the EPC scheme, including its definition, the roles of stakeholders in the certification process, and the verification procedure. After a short break, Dr. Mai Adel and Eng. Rana Mohamed from IDG introduced the BEP Tool, discussing the development of the baseline building typology, the tool's logic, purpose, and methodology, and walked participants through the EPC procedure. The session concluded with a wrap-up, emphasizing the benefits and added value of the certificate scheme for financial institutions and developers. An interactive discussion allowed participants to contribute valuable insights, ensuring a productive exchange of knowledge.

The training provided essential insights on the relevance of the EPC scheme to financial institutions and project developers. Attendees were equipped with a general understanding of the BEP tool, which will be beneficial for their future projects. Overall, the session was a success, with participants leaving with a deeper understanding of the EPC scheme and its applications.
