EPC Auditor and financier trainings successfully held in Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon
Since the beginning of 2025, the BUILD_ME project conducted several Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) Auditors training sessions across three countries, significantly advancing the region's energy efficiency efforts.
The first EPC Auditor training session took place in Lebanon on 20 January, where 26 auditors were trained. This was followed by a session in Jordan on 29 January, with 16 auditors participating. The final session was held in Egypt on 05 February, training 8 auditors. These training sessions were organised in collaboration with local partners and aimed to equip professionals with the necessary skills to assess and certify building energy performance. The comprehensive training covered key topics such as the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders, the certification process, and the use of the BEP tool for energy demand calculations and performance assessments.
Participants engaged in both theoretical and practical sessions, gaining hands-on experience with the BEP tool. This practical approach ensured that attendees could confidently apply their new skills in real-world scenarios. Trained EPC Auditors will be responsible for calculating energy labels for buildings on behalf of project owners, using the BEP tool. Trainees must also pass an exam to test their knowledge and skills before officially becoming certified Auditors.
In addition to the EPC Auditors training, the BUILD_ME Project also conducted a specialised training session for 30 representatives from financial institutions on 12 February 2025. This session aimed to highlight the importance of energy efficiency (EE) in buildings and its relevance to financial institutions. The agenda included an overview of available certification schemes, and a detailed explanation of the BUILD_ME EPC classification scheme and its process. Participants were also introduced to the BEP tool, its purpose, and methodology, followed by a practical walkthrough. This initiative aimed to equip financial professionals with the knowledge to support and promote climate-friendly building practices.
Overall, these training sessions have empowered professionals to improve energy performance in buildings and advance sustainability efforts across Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon. The BUILD_ME team will continue to work closely with policymakers and project developers to foster a robust and sustainable EPC scheme in the region.
