BUILD_ME III - National kick-off workshop on "Accelerating the financing of energy-efficient buildings in Jordan"
The Royal Scientific Society/National Energy Research Centre, in collaboration with Guidehouse, hosted the national workshop on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, to kick off the third phase of the Build_ME project: Accelerating 0-emission building sector ambitions in the MENA region, at Le Royal Hotel, Amman. The event was attended by energy specialists, representatives from ministries, the banking sector, local and international financing institutions, contractors, and Jordanian universities.
The first two phases of the BUILD_ME project aimed to identify market barriers for the uptake of highly efficient buildings in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon, and develop tools to close these gaps and improve the framework, such as benchmarking, building energy performance calculation (BEP) tool, and a demonstration projects database, enabling national trainers to use the tools and provide further trainings for local stakeholders.
The third phase of BUILD_ME project will focus on using these tools and frameworks to facilitate the financing of energy-efficient building projects.
During the workshop, the BUILD_ME project manager, Mr. Riadh Bhar, introduced the objectives of the third phase and presented the Building Energy Performance (BEP) Tool, which was developed during the second phase of the project and will be applied during this phase. The Royal Scientific Society and Guidehouse launched a national dialogue with all stakeholders to discuss mechanisms and tools to facilitate access to local and international financing channels for energy-efficient buildings and how all stakeholders can cooperate.
The BUILD_ME project is being implemented in Jordan by The Royal Scientific Society in partnership with Guidehouse and with the support of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
