BUILD_ME highlights the role of EPCs at Global Status Report Session of the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue

Eslam Mahdy represented the BUILD_ME project at the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue on 18 March 2025, delivering a compelling presentation during the session of The Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction (Buildings-GSR). This session was organized by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC).

The Buildings-GSR provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of the global buildings and construction sector, highlighting key trends, challenges, and opportunities. The session brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss the report's findings and implications, fostering a collaborative environment for sharing knowledge and best practices.

Eslam's presentation focused on the critical role of Buildings Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) in the MENA region. He emphasized how EPCs can facilitate financing and accelerate the transition towards energy-efficient buildings. By providing standardized metrics for energy performance, EPCs enable investors and policymakers to make informed decisions, driving the adoption of sustainable building practices. Mahdy underscored the importance of leveraging EPCs to achieve significant energy savings and reduce carbon emissions in the built environment.
