Integrated Development Group

Integrated Development Group (IDG) is a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy firm with over 25 years of experience in planning, urban design, architecture, research and development, policy advice, and more. Housing and Building Research Center

The Housing and Building Research Center (HBRC) is a national agency affiliated with the Ministry of Housing of Egypt. HBRC is responsible for promoting a sustainable building sector, including sustainable building materials, building physics, and energy efficient buildings and cities. The center was established in 1954 as the Building Research Institute, an independent governmental research establishment subordinate to the Ministry of Housing. Between 1964 and 1971, HBRC was subordinate to the Ministry of Scientific Research, after which it became affiliated with the Ministry of Housing. In 2004, the Housing and Building National Research Center was established by presidential decree. HBRC conducts high level research and industry coordination, joint programmes with international organisations, and engages in partnerships with local and international universities.

Royal Scientific Society

The Royal Scientific Society (RSS) is an independent nongovernmental, not-for-profit multidisciplinary science institution established by Royal Charter. Founded in 1970, it is a national organisation actively advising and supporting the development of Jordan with sound technical and policy advice, and consultations. The RSS undertakes specialised and accredited testing, research work with local industries and universities, consultations for the private and public sectors, and works in partnership with regional and international organisations.

The National Energy Research Centre (NERC) is one of the RSS’s specialised technical centers, which has been established in Jordan for research, development, and training in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency and raising the standards of energy use in the different sectors.

NERC is also working on energy planning and policy for renewable energy and energy efficiency and is developing the necessary infrastructure to support the implementation of energy investment projects. In this role, NERC is the official Jordanian government consultant on matters of energy national policy, strategy, and planning, carrying out research on developing innovative technologies.

Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation

The Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation (LCEC) is the national energy agency for Lebanon. LCEC is affiliated with the Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water and is its technical arm in all subjects related to energy efficiency, renewable energy, and green buildings. The main drivers are the second National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP) and the National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP) for Lebanon 2016–2020. NEEAP 2016–2020 includes a specific savings target around 4.83% of the total Lebanese electric power demand in 2020. The second NEEAP targets all sectors, specifically the building sector.

The LCEC is also the technical assistance unit for the Central Bank of Lebanon and is responsible for evaluating proposals related to the National Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Action (NEEREA) financing mechanism, which allows the private sector to access low interest loans to implement energy efficiency and renewable energy measures. The LCEC has installed a qualification system for energy service companies. This system assists in controlling the Lebanese market and guaranteeing quality products and installations.

European Bank of Reconstruction and Development

The European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is directly engaged in all three target countries and has intermediary financing programmes in Egypt and Lebanon in place. In Egypt and Lebanon, the EBRD has implemented a Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF). In Jordan, a GEFF is planned to begin in summer 2020. In addition, the EBRD has executed several other projects in all three countries and will advise the project team with its experience.

Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency

The Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) is an intergovernmental organisation with diplomatic status that aims to enable and increase the adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency practices in the Arab region. RCREEE teams with regional governments and global organisations to initiate and lead clean energy policy dialogues, strategies, technologies, and capacity development to increase Arab states’ share of tomorrow’s energy.

Egypt Green Building Council

Egypt Green Building Council (EgyptGBC) is a not-for-profit organization and Prospective Member affiliated with the World Green Building Council, which is a global network of over 70 Green Building Councils and their 32,000 member companies. The mission of Egypt GBC is to create momentum towards sustainability and green buildings in Egypt by cooperating with the construction community to shift professional practices and raise awareness in Egypt. EgyptGBC influences decision-makers and the construction market by developing green building rating systems and tools, trainings, market research, as well as community and stakeholder outreach. Leading private sector companies in the buildings value chain in Egypt and the MENA region such as Majid Al Futtaim, Knauf, and HeidelbergCement are corporate members and partners of EgyptGBC. EgyptGBC launched the TARSHEED rating tool (energy – water – habitat) for residential buildings, commercial buildings, and communities. Within the pipeline of registered projects, the first TARSHEED certificates were awarded in November 2019 for three new residential buildings in El Wahat El Baharia, Western Desert.

Lebanon Green Building Council

The aim of the Lebanon Green Building Council (LGBC) is to provide a Lebanese certification system for buildings that adopt environmental parameters.
